___ About our past retreats at Harriman Park ____

Harriman Park is located less than 40 miles from Yellowstone National Park, offering over 20 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and equestrian use. Artists, Daniel & Kara Hidalgo, are your hosts and will be offering guidance as well as cooking for you. This is a stay & play retreat with painting sessions happening within a short walk from your cabin.  Participants will stay in one-room cabins with either a Queen bed or two Twin beds and a bathroom, dorm fridge, desk and chair.  Right next to the cabins is the conference / dining room with a bathroom and the commercial kitchen where we'll all gather to eat.  All meals are provided.

WHAT IS INCLUDED? Lodging (some private cabins, some shared cabins, each with a private bathroom, dorm sized fridge and covered porch) and all meals in the retreat's common area dining room.  Participants are responsible for their own transportation to/from the airport (Idaho Falls, Idaho is 1.25 hr away or Jackson Hole, WY is 2.75 hrs away) to/from the cabins at Harriman State Park of Idaho.

SMALL GROUP RETREAT (not a workshop)
There are usually 7 - 10 art participants total, including the leaders.

INSTRUCTION
There will be NO formal lectures or instruction. Your leaders are there to offer guidance and advice, if you need it, as you paint. You are always welcome to paint alongside them! This is mostly about people painting together for camaraderie and sharing the experience of creating art on location, en plein air.  At lunchtime, we'll do a Show & Tell peer critique where you'll have opportunities to learn from all the artists.  See the link to Peer Critiques at the bottom of this page to learn more.

  • bike the 6.9 mile Thurmon Creek Loop to paint the lake, creek and evergreen forest
  • watch the horse drive that takes place each night as Dry Creek Outfitters moves the horses to open pastures, or even enjoy one of their trail rides
