All meals are on your own. You will make meals in the common area kitchen. Participants are responsible for their own transportation to/from the airport (Bozeman, MT is 2.5 hrs away) to/from the cabins at Lamar Buffalo Ranch.
SMALL GROUP RETREAT
There are usually 10 - 15 participants total, including the leaders.
INSTRUCTION
This retreat is great for beginners to advanced painters. There will be a demonstration the first morning. After that, the leaders are there to offer guidance and advice as you paint. Afternoons are a great time to be in the classroom (not required) to learn techniques or problem solve with the leaders. These class times are kept fluid, to answer the questions that arise at that time. You are always welcome to paint alongside the leaders if they are painting! Sometimes they are too busy walking among the artists to paint with you. As plein air painting has a large learning curve, this is mostly about people painting together for camaraderie and sharing the experience of creating art on location, en plein air. At lunchtime, we'll do a Show & Tell peer critique where you'll have opportunities to learn from all the artists. Read about Peer Critiques to learn more.
*NOTICE: Plein Air in the Parks' Yellowstone retreat is a collaboration with Yellowstone Forever Institute and the National Park Service. This retreat is entitled "Painting Moran's Yellowstone" in the Institute catalog. The Yellowstone Forever Institute website is HERE. Please call the instructors at (208) 932-0893 to get answers to all your questions and help you get registered through the Institute.
